Half-term ahoy! As it is half term, I thought I would highlight some of the things happening across BN this week, for a fun day out for you and the kids. As we know there is plenty of amazing places to explore in Sussex from Devil’s Dyke to Ditchling Beacon, to the good old Brighton Beach and Pier, but I thought I’d look a bit further afield this February.
At Hove Museum and Art Gallery there is something for everyone and best of all it is free entry and most of the exhibitions are free too. If your kids are into Star Wars, or let’s face it you are, they currently have on display cool, vintage Star Wars Toys and memorabilia. Also, they are running a Monster Make workshop for 3years and up. You are invited to make fantastic fictional creatures from big mouthed monsters to acid green aliens. £2.50 per child and lots of fun to be had. Plus, there will be a pop-up café in place, so you can have a hard-earned coffee while the kids get crafty!
Now to one of my favourite places, Middle Farm near Lewes. They have planned tonnes of fun things to see and do for every day of half term. From feeding the Guinea pigs and the piggy pigs, to a scavenger hunt or to getting creative and making animals in the craft barn. There will also be an opportunity to groom the beautiful ponies and also to meet the sheep! So much to do from 10.30-3.30 every day, and there is no need to book. It is £5pp and kids under 3 are free. They also have a fantastic restaurant, serving really tasty scones and they have a special menu for half term, so why not make a day of it. Do make sure you make a trip to the cider barn and try some deeelicious ciders from all over the country before heading home (adults and non-drivers only, of course).
My little boy loves jumping in puddles as I’m sure all your little ones do to! And this half term there is the ultimate activity for all puddle jumping fans. Grab your wellies and head to the Arundel Wetland Centre, where every day during the holidays they are holding the Puddle Jumping Championships.
Once you have paid admission to the centre it’s free to take part and if your puddle jumping skills are particularly impressive you could win a prize! Apart from puddle jumping there is plenty to see and do at the Wetland Centre. As well as being surrounded by some rare birds and local wildlife, there is an interactive maze walk that allows you to learn how some insects function and you can also take a boat safari through the wet meadow. A fantastic and fulfilling (and maybe a little bit soggy, depending on how deep those puddles are) day out for the whole family! All admission details are on their website but children under 4 are free!
Don’t forget your cameras! The holidays are always the perfect opportunity to record those memories spent together, to hold onto and to look back at over time. If you fancy trying something different then get in touch to book a family photoshoot with me. As well as free newborn and family photoshoots in the comfort of your home, I also offer them in outside locations around the Brighton area.
The great outdoors gives the perfect opportunity to capture your family in picturesque, natural environments and lighting. Shooting outdoors can create real magical, spontaneous moments that can be treasured forever. We are so lucky to live in an area surrounded by the most beautiful and brilliant countryside, with the south downs and seaside just on our doorstep creating the perfect, backdrop for those lifelong memories.
I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you and your family.
